Parama Ekadashi is a sacred fast dedicated to Lord Vishnu, observed once every three years during the Hindu leap month of Adhik Maas or Purushottam Maas, a spiritually powerful month associated with purification and devotion.
On this day, devotees worship Lord Vishnu, chant sacred mantras such as the Vishnu sahastranama, and offer incense, yellow flowers, yellow sweets and naivedyam.
a. Significance: The word ‘Parama’ meaning ‘supreme’ indicates the special merit attached to this fast. It is observed to seek freedom from karmic burdens, achieve spiritual purification and gain the blessings of Lord Vishnu and Devi Lakshmi for prosperity in life.
b. Date & Tithi: This year, Jyeshtha Parama Ekadashi will be celebrated on Thursday, June 11, 2026.
As per Drik Panchang :
Devotees need to break their fast on Dwadashi tithi (Parana day)
c. Astrological significance:
Parama Ekadashi is observed during Adhika Maas, a rare and spiritually powerful period dedicated to self-reflection and purification. In Jyotish astrology, this time is associated with opportunities for karmic healing and overcoming obstacles through spiritual practices and righteous actions.

In Hinduism, Adhik Maas also known as Purushottam Maas or Mal Maas is a sacred month that occurs every 3 years to maintain the balance between the lunar and solar calendars.
Why is Purushottam Maas So Sacred? This sacred month is dedicated to Lord Vishnu in His Purushottam form, the preserver of the universe. It is regarded as one of the most spiritually powerful periods for devotion, self-reflection, prayer, charity, and inner transformation.

This time of the year is also known as the Summer Solstice. It holds great spiritual and astrological significance. During the summer solstice, the sun is at its highest position in the sky, thus providing the longest duration of sunlight. This happens because the earth’s axis is most tilted towards the Sun.
Summer Solstice Time - 13:54
In Jyotish astrology, it is the period when Dakshinayana begins.
The solstice is the point of change when the Sun turns from its northward course (Uttarayana) to its southward course Dakshinayana. This is considered a spiritually inward, introspective half of the year. The energy shifts from outward expansion to inner cultivation.
Sun’s placement in the birth chart represents vitality, growth, leadership ability and life purpose in a birth chart.

Among the Das Mahavidya in Shaktism, Goddess Dhumavati is the seventh and a powerful, fearsome aspect of Mahadevi, known as the widow goddess, she represents detachment, spiritual strength and protection. On Dhumavati Jayanti devotees worship her to seek wisdom, overcome illusion and conquer fear.
Observing Dhumavati Jayanti is believed to help mitigate the negative influences of this planet, enabling individuals to navigate delays, losses and periods of uncertainty with greater strength and clarity.

Gayatri Jayanti is a sacred day that commemorates the birth of Goddess Gayatri, who is regarded as the embodiment of goddesses Saraswati, Parvati and Lakshmi. On the occasion of Gayatri Jayanti, devotees worship Goddess Gayatri, recite the powerful Gayatri Mantra and perform Satsang and charity to seek blessings for mental clarity, spiritual knowledge, prosperity and peace.
The word 'Nirjala' means 'without water'. Devotees observe a fast without consuming food or water for the entire day. It is one of the most powerful and strict Ekadashis in Hindu Dharma, symbolising discipline, faith and inner resilience.
Nirjala Ekadashi is the most powerful of all 24 Ekadashis; by observing this one, you accrue the merit of fasting for the whole year.
This sacred fast is believed to help devotees:
The full waterless (nirjala) fast cleanses the system, clears the mind and builds deep tapas. The eleventh tithi is ruled by Rudra and is astrologically beneficial for one who is in difficult dashas like Shani, Rahu or Ketu as it offers strong protection. Spiritually, it breaks karmic cycles, invites direct Vishnu Kripa, and creates a powerful reset point before Dakshinayana begins.

Nirjala Ekadashi on Thursday, June 25, 2026
On 26th Jun, Parana Time - 06:00AM to 08:39 AM
It is an important Hindu festival derived from the legendary tale of Savitri and Satyavan. The festival is prominently celebrated in the western and northern India, particularly in Maharashtra, Bihar, Goa, Gujarat, and Uttarakhand. On this day married women observe a strict fast, perform solah shringar, worship the banyan tree by offering water, Kumkum, turmeric, and fruits, and tie sacred thread around the tree seven times.
Jyotish astrology does not see time as empty. Every month, every tithi, every nakshatra carries a message and a call to action. June 2026 carries both, in full measure.
The month begins inside Adhik Maas, an extra lunar month that has no Surya Sankranti within it. In Jyotish, the Sankranti marks the Sun's movement into a new rashi. Without it, the month becomes a sacred space held by Purushottama himself, set apart from ordinary time. The rishis understood this. They kept Adhik Maas for inner work, no new ventures, and no outward pushing.
When Adhik Maas closes on 15 June, the Sun transits into Mithuna Rashi, ruled by Mercury, the rashi of communication, learning, and bridging opposites. A natural shift from stillness to movement.
The Summer Solstice arrives on 21 June, the Sun at its northernmost point, the beginning of Dakshinayana. From here, the Moon's cycle builds steadily through a fresh Pratipada, toward the double observance of Gayatri Jayanti and Nirjala Ekadashi on 25 June, and into the fullness of Purnima on 29 June.
Taken together, June 2026 traces a complete arc – release, turning point, fierce clarity, illumined mind, disciplined surrender, and devotional fullness. Every festival is a step. Every tithi is a marker. One unbroken thread of sadhana across a single month.
