Do you feel like there’s a sudden rise in complexities in life? Feeling almost like there’s something casting a shadow of uncertainty in your life and making you feel restless and unsettled?
Be assured you aren’t the only person experiencing this sudden onslaught of events and emotions. It is the direct influence of the upcoming total solar eclipse. This rare celestial event occurs when the Moon passes between the Earth and the Sun, blocking out the light and casting a shadow over the planet.
And on April 20th, 2023, a total solar eclipse will be visible in South/East Asia, Australia, the Pacific, the Indian Ocean, and Antarctica.
This article will explore everything you can potentially expect from the upcoming total solar eclipse happening on April 20, 2023, and its influences on individual moon signs.
The Sun is regarded as the most important planet in our solar system, representing our soul, father, government, authoritative figures and fatherly figures in our lives and surroundings.
Furthermore, Sun is also a natural source of light and is an unconditional giver. Rahu - the chaya graha, represents our desires, illusion and fantasies. It often creates clouding of one’s thoughts leading to confusion and delusion. Rahu has the capacity to eclipse Surya (Sun), depleting the solar energy reaching the Earth.
During this time, It is common for individuals to make rash decisions; some may also bear the consequences of an inflated ego.
According to Wikipedia, “A solar eclipse occurs when the Moon passes between Earth and the Sun, thereby obscuring Earth's view of the Sun, totally or partially.”
In other words, a total solar eclipse occurs when the Moon passes between the Sun and the Earth, completely blocking out the Sun's light and casting a shadow on the Earth.
It is an event that only occurs in a specific region for a few minutes at a time.

This is the first eclipse of the year, which is happening on April 20, 2023, as I mentioned earlier. It is happening on Chaitra Amavasya according to the Hindu calendar.
As per local Panchang, the eclipse will not be visible in India., Hence the Sutak rituals won’t be applicable.
The Sun is exalted in Aries and is getting eclipsed. Pay close attention to your health, as the atmosphere will be impacted by this cosmic phenomenon for quite some time.
The eclipse occurs in the Aries sign (Mesha rashi) when the Sun and Moon are in tight conjunction in the Ashwini Nakshatra Pada (2) at 5 degrees, along with Rahu in Ashwini 4th pada with Ketu in swati pada 2, in tula rashi. Additionally, during the total solar eclipse, we will also have Uranus and Mercury in Aries (Mesha) sign.
The period before, during and after an eclipse is a fairly unstable time that affects people’s minds, bodies and decision-making skills too. Consulting an astrologer during this period is fruitful if you are experiencing turmoil in your life or have to make significant decisions that will impact your life in the future.
Let’s understand the planets, their degrees and Nakshatra in tabular form on the eclipse day.
| Sr. No. | Planet | Degree | Nakshatra |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1. | Sun | 05:40:08 | Ashwini Pada (2) |

With the basic technicalities out of the way, the following are some of the potential effects we can predict to happen during the eclipse season:
Eclipse is generally disturbing energy and isn’t a good time for anyone. As an astrologer, my aim is to caution my readers about the upcoming period and what you can do to tide through these unstable periods.
Based on your ascendant/rising (Lagna) sign, or your moon sign, you can take the below-mentioned word of caution.
Note: Your lagna lord, Mercury, is going retrograde right after the day of the eclipse, so practice patience and remain calm until the end of the eclipse season.
PSA: If you are offered a new job or business opportunity, don’t jump into it right away. Stop and assess the pros and cons. Getting advice from an astrologer during this period or in such situations is highly recommended.
PSA: If you plan to buy a new house or make home-related decisions, don’t make them casually. Instead, consulting an astrologer before making such decisions can be fruitful as you may end up spending more than required.
Following are a few remedies which can help you tide through the rough tidings of the upcoming eclipse period:
Solar Eclipse is a phenomenon that happens twice a year. However, the impact of the decision taken during this period can be felt within a month or even as long as a year. Since these periods are quite volatile and testing, please be careful and watchful of how you handle things.
